Dan Tharp enters his second season as an assistant coach with the Mount Marty Lancers men's basketball team. Tharp comes to MMC having spent last season as the Director of Basketball Operations at North Carolina Central University, appearing in last years NCAA Division I Tournament. Prior to his time at NC Central, Tharp spent three years as an assistant coach, last with Clarendon College during the 2015-16 season. While at Clarendon and Baton Rouge Community College, he worked as a video coordinator and prepared scouting reports. He also helped with recruiting, arranging travel, and monitoring academic performance of student-athletes. Before heading to Baton Rouge, Tharp spent a season with the University of Jamestown as an assistant coach, as well as the head coach of the junior varsity program from 2013-14. He is a graduate of the University of South Dakota under legendary coach Dave Boots, and while there served as a student assistant, and then as a graduate assistant with the men’s basketball program. Tharp also spent three years as a student assistant at North Dakota State University. Tharp currently resides in Yankton, South Dakota.
