Basketball Myths: Breaking Down Similar Concepts

  • 22Steps

About

Did you know that there are different types of crossovers? For almost my entire playing career I was confused by parts of skill development. I was really good at dribbling the basketball below my knee because that's what I was told to do. But when I watched film I noticed that I rarely, if ever, dribbled below my knee. The ball actually lived at my hip. When I shot the basketball I was so focused on getting my feet squared to the rim that often times I was forced to awkwardly tuck my shooting elbow. I was told to crossover going full speed, but I couldn't figure out how to do that while also dribbling below my knees. The game of basketball features many concepts that are similar, yet different. In fact, some concepts can appear to look almost identical but are used in completely different situations. This video series is used to help debunk some of this myths and also provide clarity on the differences between similar concepts.
